Motorway Operations Control Centre

Sensori FM were appointed mechanical and electrical contractor in partnership with John Paul Construction in 2019. The project was to deliver a new extended control centre while ensuring no disruption to the existing 24 hour monitoring operations.

The project comprised of a new control room installation and associated facilities, 510 square metres.
The complete fitout was planned over 2 Phases:

  • Phase 1: A new build 2 storey extension to the existing Tunnel Control Building, this included a new server room, large control room and AV video wall at first floor on the first floor (Programme 18 months).
  • Phase 2: Additions and alterations to the first-floor control room in the existing building (Programme 2 months).

All works were planned in conjunction with the MOCC operations team.
Our priority focus was to deliver all works safely whilst minimising any disruption to this critical live environment.

The project is unique, as Sensori FM provided a new video wall system to include 56 no. interlinked screens. Each bevelled 55” screen has the ability to break down into 9 no. sub-screens. Each of the 56 screens are controlled to monitor the Dublin Port Tunnel, M50, Cork’s Jack Lynch Tunnel and all major roads currently monitored by TII and EGIS.

This highly technical specialised installation is the largest video wall integration in Europe.
